What to wear to your Boudoir Session (Part 2)

Picking out your looks for your boudoir session can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be! In Part 1 of this topic, we listed all our favorite options to consider (from different types of lingerie, to not lingerie, to accessories and more). Now we’re going to tackle how to narrow down your options to 3-4 outfits for a diverse gallery, and offer our best tips on styling!

*Did you know* we have an exclusive client wardrobe with access to several lingerie style in a variety of sizes?

You can add this on to your package if it’s not already included!

1. CHOOSE VARIETY

Pick different styles of lingerie and looks. We love a good body suit, a classic matching bra/panty set, and 1 outfit that’s a little edgier than the rest (you know what we mean).

If you need some direction, let’s start with this:

1 lace bra/panty set
1 body suit

1 casual or fashion look (button up, blazer, blue jeans... etc)
1 BOLD outfit compared to the others (Maybe strappy is bold for you, maybe it’s a super frilly piece, maybe it’s something more revealing than the other outfits)

Tip: If you you’re a little more reserved, opt for something in satin or silk, or a more modest teddy or night gown, kimonos or robes for more coverage.

For styles, it’s most important to feel like your best self! So if you’d rather opt for 3 body suits in all different styles and call it a day, we’re here for it!

2. CHOOSING COLORS

For colors, it’s most important to pick colors that compliment your natural complexion. We also suggest choosing a variety of different colors.

The most popular are:
Black
Red
White
(primarily for bridal lingerie)

Some other beautiful colors we’ve seen clients choose are:
Dusty blue
Pale purple
(almost gray)
Tones that are slightly lighter or darker than your natural skintone (pale pink, beige, cocoa)
*psst. This is a great alternative to white if you’re NOT doing a bridal session!
Maroon/deep red or purple
Deep green

Try to avoid excessively bright/neon colors as they don’t usually photograph well.

3. BRIDAL BOUDOIR

If this is a wedding fit for your soon-to-be spouse, I say GO ALL OUT in white with the lingerie, garter, stockings, veil, shoes. Maybe throw in a small bouquet? With more accessories, we can get plenty of variations for an entirely bridal white photo album!

Calliope Boudoir can supply a veil for out clients who wish to incorporate it in their session!

**did you know** we have discounts codes for lingerie brands for our clients?

4. ADDING ACCESSORIES

Adding accessories can easily create more variety within your outfits. And adding a sentimental piece can personalize the images even more! Some examples are:

  • Adding a removable garter and panty-hose to one of your outfits.

  • Adding your favorite jewelry to your most classic outfit for a “date night” look.

  • Have a sentimental piece like your partner’s favorite jacket or t-shirt? Add it to you casual look!

Tip: If you’re feeling bold…. Go for the leg wear! Wearing something you wouldn’t normally take the time to put on in your everyday (or night) life makes these sessions extra fun (and a fun surprise for your partner).

5. SPEAKING OF SURPRISES…

Wear something your s/o hasn’t seen yet. Their reaction will be priceless.

For our clients you can either buy something new with one of our discount codes with our partnered brands, or add the Client Wardrobe to you package or multiple options to wear!

BONUS

Rank your outfits of which you want the best photos in and let you photographer know your favorites!

We may or may not have time for the 4th outfit, so saving the best for last isn’t ideal. Wear your favorite piece as your 2nd or 3rd look, because by that time you’ll be more comfortable in front of the camera to give your best images.

Start off in the outfit with the most “coverage” as your first outfit, as you warm up to posing in front of the camera.

We hope this helps tremendously in narrowing down your final 4 outfits for your boudoir session!

Remember — the BIGGEST thing is to pick items that you feel confident and sexy in!
