What to wear to your Boudoir Session (Part 1)

Yay! You’ve got your session booked and now you’re trying to figure out what the heck to wear to your session. With so many different styles, the decisions can be overwhelming. It’s something that will set the overall tone and style for your shoot, but the most important thing is to pick something that represents you best

If you’re stumped , it’s probably for either one of two reasons — Either you have no idea where to even begin, aside from your go-to piece you exclusively wear on date nights, OR you have so many options you don’t know how to narrow them down! This article is going to tackle the first problem and give you every idea under the sun (including non-lingerie options), and Part 2 is going to help you narrow down your choices!

Here’s all of our favorite options we’ve seen at Calliope Boudoir.

*Did you know* we have an exclusive client wardrobe with access to several lingerie style in a variety of sizes?

You can add this on to your package if it’s not already included!

  1. TYPES OF LINGERIE

SO. MANY. OPTIONS. Think of different cuts that flatter your body best; bra + panty sets, teddies, body suits, night gowns. Think of different fabric and styles for pieces; lacey, strappy, frilly. If you’re a little more reserved, there’s options like satin and silk that offer a little less exposure. And colors? Anything under the sun.

Lingerie is the most traditional option, but there are so many ways you can make this unique and fitting to your personality! We’ll dive deeper into how to pick a style in part two of this article.

2. NOT A LINGERIE GIRLY?

Loungewear. You can be totally sexy in a button up, blue jeans, bralette, body suit. You don’t need to be lacey and frilly to feel sexy!

Or if that’s a little too casual for you, make it fashion with a sexy dress, or blazer, or ahem* rhinestone panty-hose if you want something FUN!

3. BRIDAL LINGERIE

Think white lingerie, veil only, bridal accessories, champagne bottles, a bouquet from a local florist. If you’re a bride-to-be, or if this is a wedding anniversary gift, you CAN’T miss this one! Because here’s a not-so-secret— the bridal lingerie you bought won’t last long on the wedding night.

And if you’re not planning on wearing a veil on your wedding day, we have some in stock to photograph in.

**did you know** we have discounts codes for lingerie brands for our clients?

4.) ACCESSORIES

There are so many things you can add to look to level it up (and it makes 1 outfit into 2!)

Consider a garter + leg wear. High heels. Their favorite jacket. A silky robe. There’s tons of possibilities with this one.

5.) A SENIMENTAL PEICE

If you’re doing this session to surprise your partner, you can add something of their’s or a sentimental item like their favorite t-shirt, something with your shared last name on it, their jacket, jewelry they’ve gifted you in the past. This is a fun way to be creative and make the images even more special!

6.) MINIMAL / NUDE

Want to do something extra spicy? If you’re comfortable with some extra exposure, talk to your photographer about doing a portion of the session nearly nude (or totally nude if you want). Not all photographers allow this, but Calliope Boudoir is all about celebrating confidence and the belief that your body is a piece of art by itself!
